Adrenal To Do's !

Hey Everyone this is Dr. Alvey with some tips from the Adrenal lecture! Remember this is a process! Writing this down is much easier than doing all of this, but you have to start somewhere if you want to feel better!

I know that many of you wanted a hand out to line out exactly what to do, so here are some things to do to get going on helping your adrenals or the other problems you may have:

1. Use Celtic Sea Salt - will be carrying this in the office. Store it in the fridge to reduce caking.
2. Drink reverse osmosis water and still the 6-8 glasses. Look at www.waterfactory.com for info on a home unit.
3. Use a castor oil pack to draw out toxins.
4. You will want to take a B complex and C vitamins. Both of these are in high demand with fatigued adrenals. (Will have whole food B complex in the office/ pharmaceutical grade.)
5. Don't try to do a heavy detox right now, only by vegetables, especially the cruciferous ones including broccoli and cauliflower.
6. You will want to get on specific herbs to help restore your adrenals. If you think you will want to do the adrenal testing then do not take them till after the testing. Depending on the type of fatigue you have there are several options on the herbs, please make an appt for consult.
7. NO sugar, most adrenal fatigue also have sugar balancing problems. Look into natural sugar substitutes as stevia and honey or brown rice syrup.
8. Eat protein with veggies as snacks between meals, this keeps the sugar and cortisol levels stable. Raw almonds, walnuts and carrots are a great snack.
9. You have to rest, learn to make it a priority. Be in bed and going to sleep by 10:30 p.m.
10. Exercise, but don't over do it. (Not over 30 minutes) If you have little energy in the evening may try exercising some in the afternoon.
11. Iodine products are now in the office. Do not take this if you know you have an allergy to iodine. Use Kelp whenever you can. Sea vegetables are a great source!
12. Use Flax Oil- It has the Omega 3's as well as minerals. Great Stuff!
13. Chlorine is toxic to the thyroid. Look up Rainshow'r for a dechlorinator shower head.
14. No caffeine! No cola's or coffee. I know this one is hard, but it is definitely worth it!
15. Avoid white flour and gluten as much as possible. Again, this is a process!
16. The adrenal stress test will identify disruptions in cortisol, insulin, DHEA, IgA, Progesterone, and gluten antibodies.

My next topic will be on detoxification, what it really is and what you are really trying to accomplish. Keep watching!

Next adrenal lecture is on Monday, February 16th at 7:00 pm at Memorial Hospital and Tuesday, March 10th at 12 noon at Kurth Memorial Library.
